Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma-informed therapy is asking the question “what happened to you” not “what’s wrong with you”.  It’s a way of understanding how the variety of emotional, physical, and psychological struggles people face have affected them and cause them to act, think, and feel in certain ways.  This approach creates a non-judgmental safe space and begins the process of healing, self-understanding and empowerment.

We understand that folks holding marginalized identities experience more trauma on a systemic, historical, and interpersonal level and offer a safe space to begin the process of understanding and healing.

In-Person and Virtual Sessions

We offer virtual appointments from the comfort of your home or work, or in person sessions at our office in West Philly. Free on street parking is available and it’s easily accessible by the 34 Trolley.

Physical accessibility: the front door is flat in line with the sidewalk and an ADA accessible width, powered by an electric keypad lock, though the door is not automatic and pulls forward towards the street. Once inside, the lobby, bathroom, and first floor office are all built to comply with ADA standards for maneuverability and comfort. The downstairs has 6 steps, a landing with a turn, then 8 steps to get to the bottom floor; from there everything is on a flat even surface and all doors open away from the user.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
